Could this be love?
My pulse is racing,
The adrenaline is pumping,
My mouth goes dry,
Hands are sweaty,
My heart is travelling up towards my throat,
Butterflies fill my stomach,
My knees feel weak,
Nervousness flow through my veins
Could this be love?
No, apparantly not...
In fact, the correct diagnosis would be the exam I have on tomorrow, which I currently seem to know very little about, apart from the fact that it will be on Geomorphology, it consists of 3 main questions, it has a duration of 45mins, it's in Rm 101 of the Geography Building, it starts at 12pm and its worth enough to make me scared. Tonight I will be pulling out my asian genes and opening a can of whoop-ass on the books. One thing I have learnt in the past is never underestimate the potential of the-night-before studying. It's a definite winner and can get you further than you may think. That's a study tip right there...that one's for free! On the other spectrum of things, last weekend saw the inaugural experience of ballroom dancing in Canada for me and the results of driving over a behemoth wet pile of leaves in a car. Both of which resulted in side splitting laughs and memorable moments.
Firstly, ballroom dancing. This was done with the youth group and the uni group at church. Now just to put it out there, when it comes to formalised dancing (opposed to sparatic twitches and spasms of my feet and arms, which I call dancing), I'm pretty useless, 2 left feet as they would call it. Well, last saturday night was the night of the Waltz and Cha Cha. Just to give you a low down, there's basically a box figured step for the Waltz which wasn't too difficult, with it being geomtrically symmetrical and all, however, once we moved past the box figured steps for the Waltz, I was on struggle street. I kept loosing count of which foot I was supposed to step where and it was just a challenge for me. Cha Cha on the other hand had relatively similar variations from the basic step so I followed on with that without embarrassing myself too much, which was good news for both myself and my partner. Oh and just for laughs, some girls from youth group thought it would be hilarious if they rocked up in spandex and legwarmers. I had a brief chuckle.

The other rather exciting thing that happened over this weekend occured after church on Sunday when Ben (one of the uni guys) decided to give us a lift home back to UBC. After dropping one of the kids home, we came across this massive pile of leaves sitting right smack bang in the middle of the street, don't ask me why it was there...it just was. It was approx 1.5m tall, with a diameter of 2m? maybe?...anyway, it was a significant pile of leaves. Now we thought it would be absolutely hilarious if we tried to drive over it, and being the reponsible 21 yr old I am, I egged Ben on to do it when he started to show signs of weakness and doubt..."It would be fine! it's just a pile of wet leaves!". Well, he took my words as good as gold and decided to drive over it. First attempt we got lodged on top of the pile of wet leaves with the back wheels spinning like crazy. This was only a slight hiccup, no worries, we can take a second bite at the cherry! So we put the car into reverse, gave her a bit of gas, got dislodged, and went back a bit more to get a bigger run up. No fear, Ben gave her gas again and we raced toward the pile of leaves. The car lurched forward as we made contact, and again we got a bit stuck...but nothing a bit of accelerating couldn't fix, and we were off. We cleared the pile of leaves!!! YAY! A multitude of laughing, cheering and back slapping followed as a sense of mild accomplishment filled the cabin. As we continued driving we noticed the car was fish tailing a lot when we turned corners and was a bit sluggish in general. Something wasn't quite right. We got out of the car to check if something went wrong when we drove over the pile of leaves. We did a quick scan under the car...nope clear, we then proceeded to walk to the front of the car. This resulted in witnessing one of the funniest things I've seen. I'll let the pictures do the talking...

We were driving around town for a good 5 minutes pushing this massive pile of leaves in front of the car, all the while with all these people giving us weird stares. The realisation was met with nothing less deserving than a good deal of laughing.
So they were the highlights, another classic text book example of one of the many little blessings God just puts into life just to make it that much more enjoyable...
Well, I'm off...time to open a can of whoop ass on the books, ASIAN STYLE!
