Time & Co.

It's been a while for all you dedicated hard core blogger reading people.

I'm still in my preliminary stages of my stay in Canada, just half way through Week 2 of term, yet for some reason there's already a feeling of fimilarity of this place, it's like I've lived here for sometime already...its got that feeling of putting on a well worn pair of Uggies, the ones that are still soft and fluffy on the sides, but worn and molded to your foot along the sole. It feels good, it smells good...it's home. I'm really begining to appreciate the vibe of this place, the easiness and friendliness of the people in Rez, the knowledge of a pass-fail system for all my subjects and the sweet smell of an Art Student's cruisy lifestyle.

Now just to put it out there, I'm no mama's boy, but truth be told, I do get a bit pampered back home. My mum washes, cooks, cleans, dries and even (sometimes) packs my lunch for me...but in my defense, I do make my own bed. So when it comes to keep me alive and kicking, she's DA BOMB! and she does it so well and with so much dexterity. So understandably, as an asian city slicker kid being looked after for most of my life, I felt pretty damn good and proud when I went out and did a bit of grocery shopping, bought some shampoo and laundry powder, folded my own clothes after getting them out of the laundry, cleaned up after myself and even vaccuumed my room all by myself. Oh you better believe I walked out of that grocery store with a massive grin on my face, chest puffed up, carrying my grocery goods like a hunter carrying his trophies of dead animals. It felt good to be finally on my own two feet and being able to look after myself without someone always having to wipe my bum...ah entirely metaphorical speaking there. So there you go, I think I'm finally growing up...despite common belief.

Its also been a real interesting experience to rock up to an unfimiliar place, and just be another face, where no one knows who you are, where you've been or what you do. And its at that point in time and space that you have the opportunity to carve yourself your own groove...a new grrove. It's this opportunity that allows you to re-create yourself as whoever and whatever you want to be with no preconceptions or strings attached. No more is it Lemuel-the-asian-dude, NO! NO! NO! its now Lemuel-the-aussie-dude-who-is-asian-but-has-a-cool-aussie-accent...and more!!! Nah but seriously, it really is somewhat of a liberating feeling to know that maybe this time I can get things right the first time and that I no longer have to fit into the mold of the Lemuel back home...

Outlook:
  • Friday I head out to Victoria Island with some an aussie and her random friends I've never met before.
  • Monday, a friend arrives in Vancouver from Austria. Should be good.
  • Tuesday, I'll try and give a quick update...but would most likely be postponed.
